It's Not Okay | Book Review

So as of lately I have tried to get more into reading. Seeing other bloggers suggesting books and reviewing them has made finding great reads fairly easy. I figured if I can select one book a month (for now) to focus on and take my time reading, I can set a realistic expectation for myself to keep reading.

It's Not Okay: Turning Heartbreak into Happily Never After by Andi Dorfman

I read Andi Dorfman's book It's Not Okay: Turning Heartbreak into Happily Never After especially after hearing all the buzz around it from Bachelor in Paradise. I enjoyed Andi's season and loved her and Josh together because you could sense the instant connection the two had. When news of their breakup broke out, both A and I were shocked!! Even he really like Josh & Andi, having gotten into the season after convincing him he has to watch (lol).

After reading the book, a lot of stuff now makes sense. Andi didn't hold back when it came to anything and I appreciated that sort of vulnerability from her. She knows she made mistakes in regards to finding love and she was almost blind in doing so.

I also got a completely different perception of Josh from her book. Of course it's only one side of the story and of course much of it can be made up, but after seeing how he was behaving on BIP, some of what she said actually made sense and I could see how it made sense.

If you are a fan of The Bachelor/Bachelorette/Bachelor in Paradise franchise, then I highly suggest you read this book. This book made me want to read more and the way she told the stories was captivating. At times she felt a little bitchy to me, but I get that she was frustrated with things that had transpired.

The only downfall I had was that it was an e-book and didn't have the same feel as a real book that has pictures and such. Although having an e-book totally made it easy with all the traveling I did over the last month to carry my iPad with me and read whenever I had a chance.

Have you read this book? What are your thoughts if you have?

  1. LOVED this book! It was so juicy! I was never really a fan of Josh. He's just not my cup of tea.

  2. ah i really really need to read this book. actually i'm gonna go ahead and put it in my amazon cart! i love all bachelor stuff (even if i know so much is staged) and after BIP it's just a given. thanks girly!

  3. I was really curious about this book after all of the drama about it on BIP too. I never liked Josh--he seems SO fake to me, and then I saw him on a reality tv show on VH1 Famously Single and I disliked him even more. So by the time BIP came, I despise him and I wonder if he and Amanda will last. I think Amanda is super naive.

  4. I really wanted to read the book and then I heard mixed reviews - I'm glad you liked it and I think I will download it to read soon!! I loved Andi - she was one of my favorites!! xo, biana -BlovedBoston

  5. I've been wanting to read this since BIP, and as fake/staged as most of the show is once it's over is when these couples need to get real with themselves and each other. I'm super curious to hear Andi's side!

  6. I didn't watch Andi's season, but I totally wanted to read this book after it got all of the attention during Bachelor in Paradise! I think that I might have to pick it up!

  7. Sounds like a good read! I must confess I never got into the whole bachelor/bachelorrette shows but they seem like they're pretty juicy! haha

  8. I've been really curious about this book! So glad to hear you liked it! :)

  9. I've been wanting to read this book!!! I keep seeing people reading it so I bet that after BIP she got a lot of $$ from book sales haha I'm totally looking it up on amazon now. I need a good book to read!
