2016 Oscar's Best & Worst Dressed

Another weekend gone and it felt like a fast one. A was here for the weekend and we got quite a few wedding things checked off, I'll talk more about it later this week.

Let's move onto the biggest award show of Hollywood, The Oscars. My favorite part of any award show is definitely the fashion. If you missed the biggest news, Leonardo Dicaprio FINALLY won his first Oscar. His speech was phenomenal and he so so so deserved this win. I was also very happy to see the movie Spotlight win for best picture.

Let me tell you last night there were way more best dressed than worst and that is awesome! I was loving a lot of the unique and beautiful dresses worn.

Worst Dressed

\\Kate Winslet- I was loving everything about her look minus the shiny part. It looked like spandex and if the material was different, she would have looked fab//

\\Sofia Vergara- I'm usually loving all of Sofia's looks, but this was definitely not the best for her//

\\Alicia Vikander- I didn't love her look at the Golden Globes and this one isn't much better. I don't like the poof at the bottom and the color isn't the greatest//

\\Heidi Klum- All I'm gonna say is, why the heck is Heidi at the Oscars?//

\\Kerry Washington- I really wanted to love this dress and from the waist down it's awesome, but the top part is ruining it for me//

\\Amy Poehler- I don't hate this dress, but it wasn't appropriate for the Oscars//

Best Dressed

\\Chrissy Teigen//   \\Cate Blanchett//   \\Charlize Theron//   \\Emily Blunt//    \\Brie Larson//

\\Jennifer Garner//    \\Margot Robbie//     \\Isla Fischer//     \\Lady Gaga//      \\Julianne Moore//

\\Mindy Kaling//    \\Olivia Wilde//    \\Maria Menounos//    \\Patricia Arquette//    \\Naomi Watts//

\\Tina Fey//    \\Rooney Mara//   \\Rachel McAdams//   \\Priyanka Chopra//   \\Reese Witherspoon//

\\Jennifer Lawrence//

What do you guys think of my picks? Who were your favorites from last night?

Wedding Wednesday | Hair & Makeup Inspiration

Happy wedding Wednesday friends! I hope you guys got to know a little bit more about me with yesterday's post :)!

Today I wanted to post about some of the Pinterest inspiration I've been having with hair and makeup. Since I have a few events for my wedding, I know keeping each look fresh and unique is important. I finally have my dream makeup artist booked for the big day along with someone for hair and I'm so thrilled. My makeup artist has done my makeup a few times (found her at Sephora, she's amaazing) and I completely trust her judgement on what will look good on me. It still never hurts to have some inspiration to help her out though!

21 Questions

Hey guys! I always like fun different ways to show a little bit about my life through questions. When I saw this on Jenn's blog I knew I wanted to borrow the idea!

21 questions

1. Are you named after anyone? No not that I know of, my dad named me and hardly ever calls me by my "real" name. I've been Nikki since before I could even remember.

2. When was the last time you cried? Honestly I can't remember. I teared up during an episode of Gilmore Girls...I get weirdly emotionally attached with characters and it was a touching episode.

3. Do you have kids? Nope not yet, but hope to in the future :)!

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself? Of course, I'm pretty awesome lol

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Please refer to the last answer. Ha, but seriously yes I do and I'm always told to tone down the sarcasm sometimes.

6. Will you ever bungee jump? Probably not, I won't say never because if it was life or death then of course I would...or if it were on Amazing Race. I don't have a desire to choose to do so though.

7. What is your favorite cereal? This is hard because I like a few different. For healthy cereal I like Frosted Mini Wheats & for sugary I like Lucky Charms!

8. What's the first thing you notice about people? Eyes and smile, I can easily read body language so I feel like I notice that too.

9. What is your eye color? Poop brown...best way to describe them lol

10. Scary movie or happy ending? Happy ending all the way. I despise scary movies so no go for those.

11. Favorite smells? I'm a fan of vanilla and tropical scents. Basically anything at Bath & Body Works is a winner for me!

12. Computer or television? Computer because I could just stream what I need to watch on there!

13. What's the furthest you've ever been from home? I've flown to India which is a good 14-16 hours from Chicago.

14. Do you have any special talents? Not especially, I sing in the shower...but I'm pretty terrible, my talents will be staying there ;)!

15. Where were you born? Born & raised in Chicago, IL!

16.What are your hobbies? Shopping, Netflixing, organizing (nerd I know), checking out new places, movies.

17. Summer or winter? Summer, always! I hate the winter, so glad this will be my very last cold winter!!

18. Do you have any pets? No, but I hope to have a puppy in the next year or so!

19. Favorite movie? How to lose a guy in 10 days & The Wedding Planner! I'm a sucker for chick flicks, even the terrible ones!

20. Do you have any siblings? Yes, 1 younger sister who is also my best friend!

21. What do you want to be when you grow up? Since I'm technically already a grown up, I'm in the career I know I am destined for. I love helping others and I've been growing as a Medical Assistant. I've thought about going further into nursing and etc, but there's just so much extra pressure and responsibility. I still of course have dreams of either working in or running my own event planning business.

Weekend Happenings

Blah another Monday is upon us again! Although I didn't do much of anything this weekend, it still flew by and I feel like I need another day to binge more of Gilmore Girls!

Friday night I made myself some veggie burgers. They were great and tasted better than restaurant burgers I've had!

Saturday was seriously spent vegging out on the couch binge watching Gilmore Girls, I'm up to season 6 so I'm nearing the end...just in time for Fuller House this coming weekend!!!!

Sunday I had this delicious faux-stess cupcake from my new favorite bakery Sugar Jones, inc! It was seriously so good and my new favorite cupcake!

I'm happy to report it's been a week since I got my succulent and it hasn't died yet! I know these things are "un-killable" but I don't have a green thumb so this is a big accomplishment!

Besides that, I got most all of my invitations labeled and ready to be mailed out which is a huge relief for me!

Linking up with Biana! Have a wonderful Monday friends!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday friends! Even though I didn't have a short week, it seemed to go by fast which is always a plus!

Linking up with my girl Amanda for Friday faves!

favorite song

I couldn't just pick one song this week because these both have been on serious repeat for me! Both make me feel like being in Miami...speaking of which I booked my flight for my bachelorette party in June and I seriously cannot wait!!

Shamless plug: for this week's wedding Wednesday post I was excited to post that I finally got my wedding invitations in and I'm sooooooo thrilled with how they turned out! There was a lot of unnecessary drama dealing with the guy making them, but now that it's all behind us I'm happy!

Amanda posting her tips of packing like a pro and even though I consider myself a pro-packer, she has some awesome tips! After reading I ordered the packing cubes because it's such a great value and will come in handy with all my upcoming trips this year!

Meg is my go-to beauty blogger. She is so fun to watch and she makes whatever she's doing look extremely doable! I love that she broke down how to get natural looking brows, because we all know eyebrows are a big deal in 2016!

Ok guys, this is the perfect recipe for the winter time because this screams comfort food! I love ramen noodle, so changing it a bit with veggies in soup form is genius! I know I will be making this on repeat.

My girl Candace is seriously the cutest with her husband! I love watching their vlogs because they are funny and cute. I would totally watch if they had a show. It was Candace's husband's birthday on Sunday and she vlogged about their weekend adventure, and she made this amazing looking cake!

101 in 1001 | An Update

I've been a total unorganized flake lately when it comes to blogging. I swear I have all these ideas and plans, but they never come to fruition...I will be better I promise!

I realized too little too late that Macy had a link-up to talk about what updates have been made over the last 90 days to our 101 in 1001 list!

68.Take a barre class {Month of November 2015}

This one was a fun one for me to cross off. I had been wanting to try a barre class for quite some time and finally bit the bullet and did it. I felt stronger after a few classes, but it just got to be so expensive and a hassle driving almost 30 mins to the studio. Maybe in the future I will take some more classes, but it was a great experience nonetheless!

70.Get a facial {February 2016}

I got myself a groupon and finally got a professional facial. This being my first professional one, I didn't know exactly what to expect, but mine was pretty bad. The technician left the room about 15 times to help another guest (she was the only one working in this place) and all she was trying to do was push products on me. Granted I should have probably had it done at a better salon, but it was cheap and got good reviews.

82.Go on a spontaneous weekend trip
91.Visit Disney World again
94.Go on a trip with just my sister

This one isn't fully complete yet, but the ticket is booked. Spontaneous for me is planning/booking a trip less than a month in advance (hello gotta take off time at work). I'm heading to Orlando with my sister for 4 days and it was literally planned while we were sitting around and just out of the blue decided we wanted to go. We put our vacation in at work, booked the tickets and are ready to go in just a few short weeks. The cool thing is I will be able to knock 3 of these off my list with just this one trip!

90.Fly first class

I had the pleasure of flying first class on my last trip home from Houston. The price for first class was the cheapest I'd seen it so I just said what the heck and booked it! I loved the experience, but would definitely prefer it more for a flight longer than 3 hours or so (Houston to Chicago is only 2 hours) so I didn't think it was really that necessary. But the warm towel, drinks, meal & chocolate chip cookie they give you are fun!

It doesn't feel like a whole lot has been crossed off, but I'm hoping in the next couple months I can knock out some more of these!!

to travel and beyond

Wedding Wednesday | Our Invitations!!

Happy hump day/wedding Wednesday friends!

I'm so so excited because just yesterday I got in our wedding invitations and I am so beyond happy with how they turned out. The floral touches make me super happy along with the fun pops of color with gold foil...is there anything better?!

I'm so excited to get to labeling and getting them ready to mail out this weekend!! Yesterday marked 5 months until the big day and eek time is just flying by in warp speed!

2016 Grammys Best & Worst Dressed

Happy Tuesday friends! Were you one of the many people who forgot about the Grammy's being on yesterday? I thought it was strange that it was on a Monday night, but I suppose Sunday was busy. I of course watched, played Grammy bingo, and judged the red carpet fashion!

Here are my picks for best & worst dressed at the Grammy's last night!

best dressed

I was loving all the colors of love on the red carpet last night.

-Of course my girl Tay Tay killed it, look at those abs!!!
-Ellie Goulding looked smouldering in this pastel pink dress, the hair and makeup totally made it.
-Chrissy Teigen was absolutely glowing in this dress, that cape!!!!
-Ariana Grande, ok I do not like her but I gotta say she looked pretty on the carpet.

-Selena Gomez looked sleek and sexy in this shimmery cut out dress!
-Kacey Musgraves looked pretty in this unique peacock colored dress. I typically wouldn't like this, but it worked on her.
-Adele of course killed it. Look at that waist!!
-Carrie Underwood always slays on the red carpet, wasn't loving the hair, but the jewelry was perf!
-Kaley Cuoco made this cut out jumpsuit look fab!

worst dressed

-Cam, this was your first time on the Grammy carpet girl...why would you debut in this hideous yellow number?!
-Janelle Monae is usually quirky and most of the time it works, but I wasn't feeling this skirt at all!
-Lady Gaga made the tribute to David Bowie very obvious, but this was just too much...those shoes, ouch!
-Tori Kelly...resting bitch face much?! This dress is totally unflattering and adds awful weight around the hip/waist line, not cute.
-Zendaya looks like a k-pop celeb or maybe a Donald Trump look-alike?! I don't know, but I know I don't like it.

-Meghan Trainor debuted this brand new look and I had no clue who she was. I'm not feeling her darker locks because I feel like the blonde hair was her. Her body looks banging tho!
-Ciara, hey let's show as much skin as possible without the dress falling off...it worked and I don't like it.
-Demi Lovato, I'm just confused...is this is a long skirt suit? If so, are you a new member of the sister wives??
-Anna Kendrick, I love you so, but this dress is just blah. There's something about the top of it that just is ill-fitting. She could have done something a bit brighter and popped a bit.

******************************************

Let's not forget, the one and only Queen Bey! She slayed and although I'm not thrilled about Uptown Funk winning song of the year, her presence alone was a great highlight of the show.

Other than the Grammy's basically being a big tribute concert, it was lack luster. I was bummed that Riri got bronchitis and didn't perform. I think they filled her time with the "Hollywood Vampires", that was the worst crap I've heard in my life....never again! Also Pitbull's new song Taxi is pretty god awful too. Anyone else think Sofia Vergara can't dance with her barbie legs?

Performance wise, Taylor was amazing. Adele killed it, even though the acoustics didn't do her much justice. Justin Bieber made me an even bigger belieber all over again. The Weeknd was also all sorts of awesome and I totally think he should have won song of the year, 2015 was totally his year!

What did you guys think of the Grammys? Did you miss it? Who were your fashion favorites and misses?
