Weekending | Thanksgiving Recappin'

Happy Monday loves! It feels like it has been forever since I last made my way to this blog. It's been such a nice weekend of not doing much of anything at all, but I definitely am not ready for the week to start already.

Thursday morning I woke up bright and early to make my cinnamon crunch cake (recipe possibly coming soon). After it was all finished and cooling, I got ready for the evening of yummy food and thanks!

I definitely ate plenty all day Thursday, as you can see the tiny sliver of turkey, just for participation sake. The sides were definitely my jam that night. After eating all the yummy food and desserts (my cake, pecan pie & pumpkin pie), I was done for the night.

Had to take a selfie with my favorite pup Dingo, he's no Nico, but so cuddly and sweet.

Friday morning I had to work all morning which was kind of a bummer, but what wasn't was the drive to and from work...literally no people on the road which was pretty awesome and I only wish every day driving in was like that. I didn't do any actual shopping for Black Friday, mostly stuck to online shopping. I definitely online shopped my heart out guys, I got pretty much everyone on my list covered.

Saturday was spent shopping for Christmas decor. We didn't find that much, but got this adorable wreath from Hobby Lobby for 50% off!! I love how festive it is (you can't see but there are little sparkly sequins in there) and it can be essentially used year round by just changing up the flower. We have yet to put a tree up because we are still waiting for it to be shipped to us, but we have all the trimmings and can't wait!

Sunday was mostly spent doing our weekly errands and grocery run. We ended the night by watching Lights Out, definitely a scary movie and I'm not sure why we watched it because I was hiding behind the pillow the entire time! If you like horror/scary movies, check this one out!

I hope y'all had a wonderful extended (for some) weekend with your loved ones. I know a lot of folks have been decorating like crazy for Christmas and I have serious FOMO, but it's definitely beginning to feel a lot like Christmas and the holidays!

Thanksgiving Tag

Since today falls right before Thanksgiving, I decided to partake in this fun tag that I saw on Jenn & Biana's blogs!

Favorite part of the Thanksgiving Day meal?
I'm definitely more a fan of all the sides. I usually tend to fill up on appetizers and sides that by the time I get to the turkey, I don't have any room for that. Desserts are also the best, always room for dessert!

Favorite side(s)?
Totally the easiest question ever, MASHED POTATOES!!! Ask anyone that knows me and I could eat those for days!

Have you hosted before?
Nope, since this is our first Thanksgiving as a married couple and we don't have our own place, it doesn't make sense logistically to host it, but I hope that one day we can.

Favorite decor for Thanksgiving?
Our family doesn't really go all out in the sense of decorations, mostly because then there wouldn't be room for all the yummy food. But I'm a big fan of harvest bouquets and mini pumpkins. I'm hoping one year when we host, I'll go full our and decorate!

Tree up before or after Thanksgiving (if you celebrate)?
Usually after, but that's just lack of time. If I could I would totally put it up beforehand. Hubby said that we can put up all the decorations December 1st and later, but I've snuck in small decor items like my nutcracker.

Smooth or chunky cranberry sauce?
Not the biggest fan of cranberry sauce, but I would prefer it smooth.

Pumpkin pie or another?
I usually make a pumpkin cheesecake pie, but this year I'm doing something a little different. I'm a fan of any pie really. Apple, sweet potato, pumpkin, etc!

Biggest thing you're thankful for this year?
Definitely getting married and how I was able to see so much of my family this year. It's definitely tough not being able to spend the holidays with my family at home, but I'm excited and thankful for new traditions. I'm also thankful for my family, health, and new job; among many other things!

*****************************

I hope y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebrating with your loved ones and eating up a storm. Do me a favor and just wait until Friday early morning to head to the stores because nobody wants a Thanksgiving Day shopper!

Quick Weekending

Happy Monday of Turkey week friends! I'm showing up today live and late, but I'm here. We didn't do much of anything this weekend which was perfect with all the busy weekends coming up.

Just a quick request for puppy prayers that everything goes well for my little buddy/fur-nephew Nico while he has his neutering procedure today.

This weekend consisted of relaxing and binge watching the rest of Gilmore Girls before the 4 part series this Friday. I'm so close to being done with the series, but kind of don't want it to end.

I did venture out to get some things for Thanksgiving this week. I'm making a cinnamon crunch cake and I'm kind of excited, but hoping it turns out good and edible...fingers crossed. I went to a few stores and of course my favorite, HomeGoods to get some platters and a cake stand. Shopping this weekend reminded me why online shopping is so big, I think I'll stick to that unless absolutely necessary.

During our errand running, I went to visit my aunt and cousin who got us the cutest ornament to hang on our tree (whenever we eventually put that up).

With the holidays being in full swing, I did get pretty homesick yesterday after I spoke to my parents. I don't know what came over me, but tears just started welling up and I just started bawling and hubby was so awesome during that moment. He was so supportive the whole time and I couldn't be happier he was there for me in that moment. I'm a little over it now, still homesick, but I'm hoping to go early January to visit and looking forward to that!

***********************************

Definitely looking forward to having a day off this week (even though I have to work Friday...BOO) and spending time eating and catching up with family! And mashed potatoes....all the mashed potatoes please!

Wedding Wednesday | A's Getting Ready Shots

Happy Wedding Wednesday loves! Sorry for my absence last week, I just really couldn't after that election. And although I'm in excruciating pain after my root canal Monday, I decided to still show up for y'all because it's been 4 MONTHS since we've been married. I cannot believe time has flown so quickly, but doing life with A is something I've dreamt of for practically ever and I'm loving every minute of it!

I'm slowly sifting through more and more of the photos (there's literally thousands) to pick our favorites for when we eventually do our album. Of course I've gone through every event we had except for the wedding, go figure. I realized I didn't share any pictures of A getting ready. I'm so glad our photographer was able to shift back and forth between us and capture some great shots of the both of us.

Granted A was basically ready at this point, but he recreated some of the pieces for the purpose of getting the shot. Here comes the photo vomit now...

Even though A isn't much of a picture kinda guy, he looks great in these IMO and I'm glad our photographer captured these!

Now it’s your turn to link-up and share your wedding tales.

I love reading all about your big day, someone else’s wedding adventures, or anything else wedding related. Alex & I just can’t wait to read all about it!

FabFitFun | Fall Box 2016

It's been a hot minute since I got my FabFitFun Fall 2016 Box. I was totally meant to post this after I got it, but figured I would just wait and actually use the stuff I got in my box before talking about it!

If you've been on the fence about getting this subscription box, I definitely think you should try it. So far the 3 boxes I've gotten have been awesome and I've loved practically everything in them. I like that the items are high quality and actually exceeds a $200 value!

FabFitFun Fall 2016 Box

Here's what's all inside my box, the fun part is that the whole box is basically a creative outlet. You can color and make it your own which was fun!

The ToeSox kind of threw me and I had a weird look because I'm like what the heck is this. Then I realize this would be awesome for doing yoga or anything like that. Besides taking longer than regular socks to put on, they are comfortable even wearing around the house. Plus they have grippies on it so you can't slip! (retail price: $17)

The Lavender Body Oil is something I haven't used yet, but definitely will be trying out, the smell of it is just so relaxing and soothing! (retail price: $18)

The The BrowGal Eyebrow Gel has been on major repeat! What's the point of spending all that time in the morning getting your brows on point only to have a couple strays?! I don't leave the house without this bad boy and will definitely be repurchasing! I love that it doesn't look like there is a gel on my brows either, it's very subtle and doesn't feel crunchy! (retail price: $20)

The Skin Laundry Restoring Night Serum has been another product I find myself reaching for lately. I try not to put too much on my skin at night since I want to let it breath, but this isn't thick or anything. It goes on like silk and helps my skins texture, firmness and elasticity...all while I just sleep. Definitely a splurge, but I'm loving it so far! (retail price: $50)

Spongelle Bulgarian Rose Body Wash Infused Buffer was something that I thought was interesting. I wasn't entirely sure how it worked, but when I read more about it on the site it definitely intrigued me. It smells amazing and is supposed to make your skin very soft and supple. I'll definitely be trying this out and seeing how long it lasts, according to the site, it should last up to 14 uses. (retail price: $16)

So this next product was kind of embarrassing, but I was slightly curious to try it out. You've probably seen the commercials for Cottonelle Fresh Care Flushable Toilet Wipes and thought to yourself hmm...wonder if that works. That was me y'all. I tried it a few times and it was fine, I honestly think the wipes are kind of small if you ask me. Then I was following one of the dermatologists and he had a patient who used these wipes religiously and she was getting irritated skin in that area. He said it was from the chemicals of the wipes. That was the last time I used them...no thanks! (retail price: $6.99)

I was excited to see Secret Outlast Xtend Clear Gel Deodorant in my box because I had just run out of deodorant so the timing couldn't have been better. I like the clear gel because it doesn't get any of my clothes dirty with white marks and it dries almost instantly. (retail price: $3.99)

The Pure Cosmetics Nude Collection eyeshadow palette had m excited, but then I realized it basically copied the Naked palette. I don't hate it, I just wish it was different since I already have all the Naked palettes. Some of the colors are slightly different, but I haven't had a chance to properly play around with it. From a little test sample, the pigmentation is pretty good! (retail price: $50)

Being a select member (getting the box annually) meant I could pick out specifics on a few items. The thing I was most excited for was the ModCloth Loch and Key Scarf because who doesn't love a blanket scarf?! I was torn about the color to choose though. Since I already had a similar scarf to the red/beige one, I decided o go for the black and white because come on...neutrals rock! I know I won't get a ton of use in Houston, but it does eventually get chilly enough for scarves. (retail price: $34.99)

The Created Co To-Go Coffee Mug was another item that I could pick the specifics. I really have always wanted a mug that says 'good morning gorgeous' so this was the perfect way to fulfill that. I absolutely love this to-go mug and I use it for my coffee every morning in the office. I love the sleekness of the black with the fun saying on it! (retail price: $19)

The final items in the box was the Things Coloring Book and Colored Pencils. I also got to pick out which coloring book I wanted. I absolutely love to color and find it very relaxing. I also have my own colored pencils, but the colors that came with the box are slightly unique and easier to carry around than my 64-pack. You can see by the last picture that I already have started coloring in the book and had so much fun doing so.

The retail value of all the items in the box would run you around $240, which is outrageous, but this box is SO much cheaper than that folks! Totally worth it and I love all my products from this box, with the exception of one or two things :)!

Do you have the FabFitFun box? What do you think? If you have any questions about the box, feel free to reach out by either commenting or emailing me!

Monday Musings | Middle of November

Morning loves. How is it seriously the middle of November? I can't believe that next week is Thanksgiving! I finally figured out what I'll be bringing to Thanksgiving dinner, it's a dessert again, but I haven't made it in years so here's to hoping it turns out good! I'll have a recipe for it once I do it (and hopefully successfully).

Anyways, this past weekend I literally took the least amount of pictures possible. On Friday night hubby and I went out to Lupe Tortilla in Sugar Land for our date night dinner. We had plans for another place in the city, but really wanted to go to the movies afterwards so we decided to keep it local and low key. Dinner was excellent, as usual, but then we headed for the movies.

We watched Hacksaw Ridge and guys this movie was so so so good!! I'm not really big into war movies or Mel Gibson truthfully, but y'all this movie was so worth staying up past midnight for. It was a long movie, but you would never feel it because it kept you intrigued and focused on the movie. Andrew Garfield played his role superbly. Definitely recommend watching it, but it is quite gory as Mel Gibson's movies are known to be.

On Saturday I woke up to the cutest snapchat ever...

We didn't do a whole lot on Saturday except bum around and watch college football. It was the perfect day of relaxing at home and not having to do anything. I ran out to grab a card for the bridal shower I was going to, but that was about it.

Sunday morning I woke up bright and early to do the house chores since I was too lazy to do them Saturday. I was shocked at the number of things I had accomplished before noon! All the laundry, sweeping/mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning down the kitchen was complete. I felt like a rockstar and ready to head to my bridal shower. I was very nervous for this bridal shower because I don't know a soul besides the bride and groom. This is one of A's best friend's bride to be and of course we've gotten to know each other, but not as far as to meeting her other friends and family. She has invited me to her bachelorette party in Fredricksburg, TX which I am going to because wine...duh! So I figured this would be perfect to meet some of the other girls who will be going. I'm so glad I went because it was a lot of fun and it was great to meet people who will be at the wedding and her bachelorette party next month.

Can we just talk about all her fun details, whoever planned this did an excellent job in making it such a loving environment. She definite got spoiled with all her gifts too!

P.s. If you can, try to catch the Super Moon out tonight, it's supposed to be the biggest and closest full moon since 1948 and won't be seen again until 2034 (I calculated that I'll be 46 by that time...nuts!!!)

Did y'all have a good weekend? Linking up with Biana for Weekending!

Wedding Wednesday | Election Exhaustion

Happy Wednesday loves. I really wanted to get a post up, but with a busy weekend and just mental exhaustion with all that is the U.S. Election...I don't have the mental headspace for a proper post.

I will leave y'all with political funnies...

...aaaaand I'm done!

I went to bed last night knowing I would be waking up to a different kind of normal. When I saw who voted (yes I couldn't wait up with that kind of anxiety), I was just saddened. I like to keep it pretty light hearted and fun around these parts, but this hurt me y'all.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and Hillz had some uphill battles to overcome, but I thought America was better than this. It's sad to see how far back we set our country...I just hope it doesn't take another 150+ years to get back to where we were during Obama's term. Being an American born minority, this scares me more than y'all will ever know...what does this mean for my (legal) immigrant parents who came here over 25 years ago to make a better life for them and their family? What does this mean for the future of our immigration laws? How do we begin to explain to our children why someone who has said a ton of very hateful, bigoted, racist, xenophobic, sexist and homophobic things was voted into office?

I don't hate the people who voted for him, I just don't think they felt they had a better choice...which is unfortunate. Those lost voters to the 3rd party candidates meant less votes for Hillary, that showed last night to make a huge impact on her campaign.

Alright guys, rant over...I hope today brings y'all peace and comfort, whoever you voted for...don't forget...

love is love is love is love!

Keep on loving friends!

Well enough about that, I'll have the link up below for you guys to link up to! I'll be back next Wedding Wednesday :)!

Weekending | Jake Owen Overload

Ugh another Monday...why does the weekend fly by so quickly?! This weekend was one for the books because it was when I went to my first country concert in Houston! The concert didn't start until the evening so we did our weekend errands early and then got ready to head out to the concert. Luckily the stadium where they held it was practically in our backyard, so it took all of 10 minutes to get there and parked. Also luckily, it was a very very light crowd...either the PR for the concert wasn't done properly or people didn't want to come out so far for it...but Jake Owen was SO worth it guys!

We got there and headed up to our club level seats and waited to meet up with our friends. We all then grabbed some yummy food and drinks and watched the opening acts. Before Jake Owen the performances were by LANco, Aaron Watson & Frankie Ballard. I thought each of those sets were ok and we basically just spent that time eating and catching up with our friends.

As soon as Jake Owen made it onto the stage, the vibe changed and it felt electric. He opened his set with some of his classics and you could tell how much fun he was already having up there. Unfortunately our friends had a long drive home and decided to head out half way through his set.

We walked down from the club level seats to head to the field for the last hour of his performance. This was literally the best thing we could have done. Since there wasn't a huge crowd to begin with, and most people had headed out, we basically got to walk up to about 15 feet in front of the stage without any huge crowds. It felt like a super intimate performance at that part and I think Jake Owen actually preferred it being a smaller, more intimate crowd. He continued to belt out hit after hit for the next hour. It was truly a special experience being able to just walk up and be that close to where he was performing. I'll leave y'all with some pictures and video of our night.

Trying to get a selfie with Jake Owen in the back, but of course the lights ruined that.

^This isn't zoomed in a bit, that's how close we got!

Sunday was spent cleaning and prepping for all our guests coming over. It was so strange because the whole day felt off with the whole time change. I snuck out a bit to grab a few necessities (and non-necessities) from Sephora during the VIB Rouge 20% off, if you're a rouge, you have until tonight to grab your goodies! I got some holiday sets for Christmas gifts so that was some people crossed off my list. Of course it got dark super early which sucked because now when I get home, it'll be dark...BOOO!!! After eating and cleaning up everything I changed into my PJ's and drank some yummy tea until bedtime.

I wish the weekend was more relaxing, but I had a blast and it was all totally worth not relaxing. Now onto the week, hope y'all have a fantastic one!

Friday Faves | First of November

TGIF loves! This week has been quite exhausting and it doesn't look like I'll get much rest and relaxation this weekend!

First and foremost.....my Cubbies!!! I am so so so so so beyond words because THEY WON THE FRIGGIN' WORLD SERIES!!!! I have serious FOMO because I'm not in Chicago during this historic time in sports. I have been (trying to) stay awake for the games this week, but man Game 7 got me and I fell asleep when it went into a rain delay...only to wake up from texts and snapchats from all my Chicago loves saying the CUBS WON! Seriously that group of guys deserved this win and so did the city of Chicago...nothing like taking 108 years to finally win. I totally commend the Cleveland Indians for playing their hearts out!

go Cubs go, go Cubs go, hey Chicago whadya say, the Cubs are gonna win today!

So much FOMO after going through all my snaps of friends in Wrigleyville to celebrate!

Halloween was this week and although we were busy with our Indian New Year, I was happy that we got to dress up at work. We all went as nerds and it was a whole revenge of the nerds situation!

That same day we went to temple after I got home from work. It was packed, but the lights around the temple were so beautifully lit up.

Pretty sunrises are still amazing me, especially since we aren't going to get much of that anymore after DST. It's an hour later waking up, but definitely more darkness at the end of the day.

Finally I want to put this PSA out there...vote vote vote!! This election needs all the voters to show up. I registered my husband because he wasn't registered...like ever! He uses the excuse that his vote won't matter, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Get out and get your voice heard, other wise don't complain about the state of our country after the fact! This is a historical election whichever way it goes, be a part of it and do your civic duty! Plus do it for the stickers :)!

*Stepping off my soapbox now*

***********************************

This weekend we are going to the Country in the Ballpark concert to see Jake Owen, Frankie Ballard, LANco and a few other acts. I am so excited because it'll be my first country concert in a year and first one in Houston! It just gets me excited for the Rodeo early next year!! Be sure to follow me on Snapchat if you aren't already, npat62 :)!

Linking up with Amanda for Friday Faves,  April for 5 on Friday, Tif for High Five for Friday, and Lauren for Fab Favorites!
