SuperBowl Weekend

TGIF friends!! This has been such a long and trying week for me with working 50+ hours in just a week, it definitely takes a toll on you. I have some serious plans of relaxing and sleeping in this weekend. I have a Super Bowl party to go to on Sunday, but besides that I have zero plans and I am totally fine with that. I am so behind on Parenthood, so plans for catching up on Netflix are also in order. So here are some of my favorites for the week, linking with Amanda!

Sunrises
These gorgeous sunrises make waking up at the crack of dawn worth it.

Fangirling
I had some seriousfan girling going on, first I tweeted by sunrise picture in to Bob Van Dillen on the Morning Express with Robin Meade (I watch it every morning when I'm getting ready for work), and he retweeted me. He probably retweets everyone, but guys HE'S ON TV!

The other two pictures are when my fangirling hit an absolute high. I posted a picture up on Instagram of a conversation that A and I had regarding the Bachelorette. Well one of the contestants, Nikki Delventhal, liked my photo and I thought to comment and see if she would reply...she did. Fangirl, dead.

Ok, so I know these are real life celebs or anything, but they are TV famous and that has to count for something. Let's just say it made my days when this happened :).

Tattoo
I want this adorable bird tattoo to add to a tattoo I already have. I've been trying to find the perfect tattoo to get next and this is most definitely the one!

Goodies
My competative side came out during our department meeting. When I found out there were prizes involved, I dominated in the Valentine's Day word scramble & word search...holla for some chocolate!

Valentine's Day
Speaking of the Hallmark holiday we love to hate, this is the workings of my gift to A this year. I got the idea off of Pinterest to do this basket of candies and it's a simple and cute way for me to send some sugar to Houston ;).

I hope you all have a fabulous and relaxing weekend. If you're going watching the Super Bowl (or eating while it happens) Go Patriots & hottie Tom Brady!!!

sorry.not sorry.

Stats

Blogger makes statistics really fun to keep up with. I love the analytical page where you can see how many views you've gotten for the day, on a certain post, etc. I've never been a pusher of getting my numbers up, even though I was truly grateful when the numbers did climb. I thought it would be fun if I just gave you guys some stats of this here little blog.

Pageviews of all time: 50,479
This is pretty cool and even though many many other bloggers have double or triple this number, I gotta say, I am pretty happy with this number. I don't even know what an average is, but considering I'm not always a consistent blogger or someone who shares her post on every social media outlet, this is a big number.

Top search word: jackson avery
For those of you that don't know who that is, that's the hottest character on Grey's Anatomy. I'm not sure why that search has sent over 280 people to my blog, but I hope they got what they wanted out of that search. I suppose the keyword could always be worse, so I'll take this as a win!

Audience:
It's really cool to see where my readers or people that accidentally stumble onto my page come from. These are the top countries where my readers come from, so if you're from any of these, HELLO!

USA
Russia
Germany
France
United Kingdom
Canada
Ukraine
China
Turkey
&
Indonesia

Top 10 most viewed blog posts:

1. Sunday Social Week {5}\\ 4271 page views
I think this is the post that is responsible for the Jackson Avery searches, you're welcome America ;).

2. Mac vs Make Up For Ever\\ 1819 page views
I'm surprised this one has so many views, with the amateur blogging and horrible quality pictures, wowzers.

3. If you really knew me...\\ 604 page views
This one makes me happy to know it's in the top 3 because it's about me and I'm not pushing or talking about a product.

4. Birchbox vs MyGlam Bag\\ 523 page views
This was fun to go back on, I loved Birchbox once upon a time, but have now since stuck to Ipsy (formerly MyGlam Bag).

5. Do You Freestyle?\\ 332 page views
This was a fun post to write about mostly because I got asked to review a Freestyle machine and got paid for it! It was probably the largest amount I got from a review, so that's pretty cool.

6. Sunday Social Week {4}\\ 203 page views
Sunday Social posts FTW. These were so fun to do especially in the beginning because it was all new. I'm sad that this link up as since gone away, but had a blast linking up.

7. Fall Into Fun\\ 191 page views
This was another Sunday Social post talking about fun fall activities.

8. Nikki Lately\\ 157 page views
I guess I had taken a blogging hiatus with school and life taking over so I caught up in this post and clearly readers liked it enough to end up on this list. So thanks readers for caring.

9. Red Balloons\\ 129 page views
This makes my heart melt because this was such a tragic experience for a fellow blogger Jacqui and I'm glad it got the page views it did. I recently saw that Jacqui was on Ellen's show during the 12 day of giveaways and got to talk to Ellen. It's great that Ryan's name and story got out in the ways that it has, truly speaks to what bloggers are capable of when one of our own is hurting.

10. Dating Stories from Yours Truly\\ 127 page views
Sorry for all the broken picture links, but this was a fun time to write because I had been going through the motions of online dating again and had plenty of stories to share with my readers. Whether you have tried online dating, are contemplating trying it, or don't need to but want a good laugh, this is a fun post that goes through the truth behind online dating.

It was so fun to go back to these top posts and get reaquainted with my blog. I kind of tend to forget about posts written a few years ago and so this is fun to walk down memory lane. This May will mark 3 years of blogging, all the ups and downs and amazing people I have met through blogging has been incredible.

Top Vlogger

Now I've talked about vlogs in the past and how they are so hard to accomplish. I commend anyone who regularly vlogs and extra points if they are actually great at it. There's one Blogger/Vlogger who takes the cake in my opinion. Meg is a busy working momma of 2 little girls and she still gets the time and energy to vlog on the reg. She is my favorite because her vlogs feature makeup/beauty products and gives me things that I need to try out for myself. Plus she's super hilarious and has a great singing voice that she showcases in her vlogs too! I mean you can't get any better than that I think. Here are some of her vlogs (you can subscribe to her on YouTube!)

Isn't she just the prettiest and most fun to watch. I love how she goes through and does easy to follow tutorials while also letting her readers and viewers know what the hot beauty products. I laughed so loud at the first video of Kennedy (her daughter) doing her makeup!! What a hilarious idea and such a fun turnout, I love that she had fun with it and played along. I love her 2014 Beauty Awards because they really are some great products and I can't wait to try a few of them out.

Any vloggers out there or ones to watch? Leave them in the comments below!

SAG Awards Fashion Hits & Misses

Happy Monday folks, yuck! Today started out crazy (like most Monday mornings), but I got into work and saw all this filming equipment set up and immediately was like what the heck is going on here. I didn't get any sort of email or text from my boss saying anything was happening so I was clueless. Come to find out the marketing department is doing this huge thing and were going to be filming all morning (kicking me out of my desk). I even got to awkwardly be in it and let's just say I am definitely not cut out for acting.

This is what I walked into...that computer is my desk so totally unuseable for the morning.

Well that was an exciting change to the morning, but let's get onto the post. Not sure if many of you tuned into the SAG awards last night, there were a bunch of things on like Miss Universe & the NFL Pro Bowl, but for those that did or didn't here are my picks for hits & misses from the red carpet.

I'm doing this a bit differently because I noticed some big shows' stars were hitting the red carpet, so I grouped them up and will talk about those, then get on to my best and worst dressed.

Cast of Modern Family

Ok so this is one good looking cast I must admit. The men of Modern Family knocked it out of the park in my opinion, very dapper and classic looking.

I especially like Jesse Tyler Ferguson's suit because it's something different, but totally appropriate for the SAG awards.

Julie Bowen looks hot and she'll be making an appearance a bit later in this post.

Sarah Hyland & Ariel Winter look fabulous as well, very good choices for the red carpet and can you believe that Ariel Winter is only 16!! She looks like she's taking tips from hottie Sophia Vergara with the va va voom factor.

The little girl who plays Lily (don't know her real name whoops), looks absolutely adorable in her dress. Very age appropriate and fun!

Overall I think they all look fantastic and knocked it out of the park with their looks!

Cast of Orange is the New Black

I have mixed feelings about this shows cast. I think some of them look great and I think a few look...interesting. I don't know any of their real names so I'll just go from left to right.

So the first girl, I kind of hate the fact that this is long sleeve and what she did with her hair. I think if she had a sleeveless dress with a little more open on the neck area and had her hair down, she would look awesome. Her curves are right on with this look and I love that she isn't trying to hide that.

The next look is a great look. She looks happy and glowing in it, love how simple it is yet the embellishment up top puts it over the edge. I also am loving the clutch.

Taryn Manning (the only person I know the name of out of the group...Crossroads throwback), this look is kind of awful on her. It looks very matronly and the color washes her out. She is such a cute person with a great body, this just doesn't do her justice.

This red dress looks fabulous! She is rocking the heck out of it and the hair almost perfectly matches the waves of the bodice. It may have been a bit too much for the SAG awards, but still a great dress.

Crazy eyes!!! I had to do a triple take to recognize her all done up. She looks AH-MAZING! The hair, makeup, jewels, the dress...it's all working so well for her. Definitely not crazy eyes anymore!

Ok, so this final look...what can I say. I know she has a fabulous personality and all that, but this is just not working. The hair is what is killing it for me, the roots! Why not just get that done before hitting the red carpet?!? I think another hairdo would have worked better with this dress, but yeh not this.

Cast of The Big Bang Theory

Ok so this cast had it 95% right....

Melissa Rauch (who plays Bernadette) dropped them from 100% to 95%. I just don't get it, the color is wrong and the cut of it just isn't doing it for me. I do think waist up it looks great. The bodice color works perfectly with her skin tone, but the darker shiny red is throwing it off. I do think the rest of the cast looks fantastic!!!

Kaley Cuoco looks effortlessly gorgeous in this dress. Red was definitely in again for this award show and she wore it beautifully. I love the little bow detail, it reminds me of Kate Spade. Just overall big win for her in this look.

Mayim Bialik makes such a simple and elegant gown look great for the red carpet. I love the hint of emerald with the earrings. I have to say emerald and black is a favorite color combo of mine, so she did a great job. I do wish her clutch was a different color, but everything works for her in this look.

Jim Parsons looks extra hot in this suit. I love the color because it's different than what is usually worn by the men on the red carpet. He looks confident and very put together in this look.

Ok so now, I want to get onto the best and worst dressed picks from the red carpet last night. I want to start out by commending the men on the carpet. They looked delicious and very very well put together.
*some are repeats from above.

Ty Burrell- This is such a perfect example of a classic suit for the red carpet. It is safe, but he looks great.

Eddie Redmayne- He looks young and fresh in this suit, along with being a SAG winner! I think his portrayal of Steven Hawking in The Theory of Everything was amazing and he definitely deserved that win last night.

Matthew McConaughey- Alright, alright, alright! I love the pop of blue that Matthew pulled into this look yesterday. No comment though on his facial hair...ages him a bit much, but he's still hot regardless.

Lenny Kravtiz- So he could have gone total whack-a-doodle like his personality is, but I think this is a great look. It's laid back which is perfect for him, but still a classic look.

Michael Keaton- I have yet to see his movie Birdman, but with all the buzz around it he really looked great. He is an older actor, but he looks fresh in his suit, I love the simplicity of it.

Eric Stonestreet- I think Eric looks great. Classic and effortless looking, perfect for the SAG awards.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson- I mentioned above how I loved this look on him. I like the mixed texure with the tweed looking suit with what looks like suede lapels. Very unique and suits his style well.

Kit Harington- Oh Jon Snow, I don't watch GOT, but man is this guy yummy. I think he looks dreamy in this suit and yeh...pretty much perfection.

Best Dressed

I won't go through each of them, but I think all of these women did an absolutely fabulous job on their looks for the red carpet. My top 3 favorites are: Julie Bowen, Jennifer Aniston, and Camila Alves.

Worst Dressed

Rosamund Pike- girlfriend, I don't even know what the heck this is. She looks like a fluffy dead bird. The thing that sucks is that her hair and makeup look great. The dress does nothing for her.

Lupita Nyong'o- Lupita usually does a great job on the red carpet, but I think this year she's gotten off to a bad start. I don't expecially like printed dresses, but if I did it would have to work. I think this print almost clashes a little too much with her skin though.

Anna Chlumsky- I don't get the structure of this dress. The red/oragne color is pretty ugly too. Maybe it's this particular picture, but she looks pretty creepy with her face. Just a miss for me.

Naomi Watts- So I don't particularly hate this on her, but I do think it gives her absolutely no shape whatsoever. She almost looks too uncomfortable in it in the torso part. I'm not sure how she sat down without ripping right into the seam. Oh yeh, speaking of seam, how ugly does that seam look running right down the middle of the dress.

Maggie Gyllenhaal- I don't really ever love her looks on the red carpet and this one is no exception. I think that weird mesh thing that's basically holding her boobs in looks misplaced. I do like her hair and makeup for this though.

Patricia Arquette- Another miss for her with this look. Not as awful as the Golden Globes look, but she looks like she draped an old curtain on her and called it a day. Also I hate the messy thrown up look of her hair. It looks like she was in a rush to get there, and she doesn't even look that thrilled to be there.

Felicity Jones- She is such a pretty girl and did a fantastic job playing Jane Hawking in The Theory of Everything, but I think this look is wrong for her. The hair is too slick back and ages her and the pale color of the dress washes her out. I think she could have worn something more young and fresh for this red carpet and let her hair down.

Emma Stone- Ok so this is one of my favorite actresses, she is hilarious and really can act, but this year she has been a bit off on her red carpet game. She is so gorgeous and can basically wear anything, but this tuxedo jacket with mesh at the bottom is just awful. I want to see her in a gorgeous emerald green gown or something, come on Emma, bring it for the Oscars!!

So what do you guys think of my picks? I left a bunch of people out because quite frankly I was bored of most of the looks. A lot of celebs played it safe for this award show which isn't necessarily bad, but I wanted more. I am very very excited about the Oscar's fashion though!

Lastly, I want to just touch a bit on the Miss Universe pageant. I was flipping between shows, but caught the majority of the pageant and was impressed with some of the girls. Others were getting on my nerves (I'm looking at you Miss Ukraine). I just think that next time, they should eliminate the whole question portion because these girls did awful at answering the questions. Even the ones that did understand and speak English didn't answer that great. Here were the top 5 girls in case you missed it.

Miss Colombia, Paulina Vega won Miss Universe and I think it was a good choice. I, of course, was pulling for Miss USA to win, she is gorgeous and answered her questions probably better than anyone else. Ukraine shockingly came in 3rd place and I don't get it. Her answers were stupid and didn't even answer the question that was asked. Netherlands was my 3rd favorite because she seemed like the most charitable out of the 5 girls. Also that yellow dress is perfection on her. Jamaica was cute and all, but she was very staged and looked like a forced smile.

Anywhoodles, congrats to the gorgeous new Miss Universe, Paulina Vega.

Faves on Friday

Hey guys! It's my favorite time of the week...FRIDAY! This has been a looooong week so today is more than welcome. I mentioned a few weeks ago that I started a new job in October and it's getting better (or at least I'll stick it out for now), but I also asked my manager if I could pick up shifts working in the immediate care center which she happily helped me facilitate. I started at the immediate care center on Tuesday and I am really happy helping them out so far. If you're keeping track now, that puts me at technically 3 different jobs. I'm crazy I know, but I am loving all the experience I am gaining and every place I'm at is unique and different. So let me break it down for you guys.

The first place I'm at is my old old job as a cardiac tech that I've been at for 3+ years, I'm doing Tuesday & Thursday day shifts there (and some Sunday's on-call), then the second place is my part-time place at the congestive heart failure clinic run by the hospital on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (luckily NO weekends!!!) Sounds like a cool place right? Well I'm hoping so, it's been slow since we are very very new, but loving the patients I'm seeing so far. Then the final place is still with the hospital that runs the heart failure clinic, but at their immediate care center and I'm doing that also on Tuesdays & Thursdays, but second shift. So with that I'm at 3 different places doing 3 different things, and hopefully not running myself down at a young age.

So even though my schedule seems wacky and kind of nutty at times, I do appreciate every opportunity I've been granted and can't wait to see what's in store for me. Out of the 3 places, I have to say that currently my favorite is at the immediate care center because I get the rush of being in the ER without seeing some of the insane stuff they see or do there. I have a feeling all of my skills will be getting used there and I'll probably even learn some more. I'll keep you guys posted from time to time if I'm not completely run down...plus side is the moolah should be rollin' in!!!

Now let me get onto the actual post (sorry for the super crazy tangent there). Friday faves with Amanda!!

Fave song:

Adam Levine...swoon!

Fave recipe:
I posted this recipe earlier this week and am still obsessed over it. I may repeat it this weekend because it is super easy and delicious to make!

$1,000

Now let me preface this by saying, this is NOT a giveaway for $1,000. I wish I was so generous or even had that amount to give away, but I don't.

Now, have you ever thought if you were able to spend $1,000 in any way you wanted, what you would actually spend it on? I've thought about this quite a bit and I know exactly what I'd get. I'd make an investment in....

Louis Vuitton Speedy30 Damier Ebene Bag

I have been lusting over this bag ever since I set my eyes on it. I want it and if I had $1,000 to spend, I would most definitely be getting this baby. Maybe one day (soon) it will be mine, until then it will remain on my lust list.

Things I'm an Expert at:

I love learning and discovering new things. Granted if you caught me at school, I would totally say the opposite, but what I mean by that is if there is something I am passionate about or even good at, I enjoy learning about it. My list may not be long, but it's what I can think of off the top of my head.

Things I'm an expert at

> making lists
I absolutely love making lists. I get pretty OCD about my lists too, it needs to be neat and very legible, so if I mess up on anything you better believe a new list will be made. I love how it keeps me organized in my life and I feel like I have my stuff together if I have a pretty list.

> staying organized
I think this goes hand in hand with the whole making lists things. I think if it weren't for my lists and planner(s), I would not be as organized as I am. If it's written down, I know it needs to get done.

> Resting bitch face (or RBF)
Now this is something that I totally have no control over. I think I'm an expert at it because I've had 26 years of experience. Even without trying to, I can master the face. I have learned in my profession how to lessen that or put on my smile in front of patients.

Pretty much my life in a nutshell

> Sarcasm and snark
Ask anyone in my life and they will tell you I have more sarcasm and snark than necessary in life. Sometimes it can get me in trouble, but other times it's just fun.

> Eating Taco Bell while driving
Now you may not think of this as something to be an expert thing and to that I say, I challenge you. I challenge you to get something from Taco Bell and eat it while driving (in a straight line). It's not easy my friends, but I have mastered it. All those late night Taco Bells runs have come in handy apparently, my parents should be so proud. You get extra points if you can add sauce to your food while driving!

I need this in my life

> Pretending to work
This doesn't always happen, but when we have downtime at work, I am constantly pretending I am donig something super duper important on the computer. Most times I am either on Pinterest, Bloglovin, or cranking out blog posts. I have recently mastered having a bajillion windows up at once in case someone sneaks up on you (I'm looking at you coworker who doesn't know what a personal bubble is).

Alright, this is the most I can come up with on a Monday. If I think of more, I will add as I go. What are some things you guys are experts at?

Recipe {Baked Cheese & Bean Enchiladas}

Guys, I'm so glad that I finally have a recipe again that I made over the past weekend to link up with Kate & Emily! Their recipe swap link up is so much fun and I get tons of great recipe ideas from there, but it's been a while since I'd been able to link up with them.

Now I kind of had an idea of how I was going to make this recipe, but wanted to follow a strict recipe (I'm weird like that, I need to know exactly of what needs to go into something).

Image

Ingredients:

bean mixture
-1 can (16 oz.) refried beans
-1 tsp cumin
-1/2 tsp chili powder
-2/3 cup cheddar cheese
-flour tortillas

sauce mixture
-1 can (10-16 oz) red enchilada sauce
-1/4 cup sour cream
-1/2 tsp cumin
-1/4 tsp chili powder

Directions:

For the bean mixture
1. In a medium bowl, combine beans, cumin, chili powder & cheese until smooth.

2. Over the stovetop heat up the tortillas to make them soft and easy to roll. Add a dollop or two of the bean mixture to each tortilla and roll closed.

For the sauce mixture
3. Whisk together the enchilada sauce, cumin, chili powder & sour cream.

For the enchiladas
4. Heat the oven to 350 degrees

5. Spoon  1/3 cup of the enchilada sauce in the bottom of an 8"x 9" baking dish. Place the enchiladas seam side down and top with remaining sauce and enough cheese to cover all enchiladas.

6. Bake for 20-25 minutes (or until the cheese starts to bubble) and enjoy!!

Weekending

Hello! Man does it suck to come back to work (on a holiday nonetheless) after an extended weekend. I had taken Thur-Sun off since A was going to be here and boy am I glad I did, I needed those days off. We kept it pretty low key this time around since we had done the sight-seeing stuff the first time he was here. He flew in Wednesday evening and I thought it would be cute to do a nice fancy dinner and celebrate an early Valentine's Day since we won't be together for it. We went to The Melting Pot and had an amazing 4 course meal. It was both of our first times there and we had such a fun time just chatting and actually being on a date, ha! The one thing that I was bad about (like always) was documenting with pictures. I did get a yummy picture of our dessert though!

The next day, we headed to Targs and the mall to pick up some last minute gifts for our super duper late Friendsmas. Alas, I have no pictures from that night, but I will say there were tons of foods, plenty of games (cards against humanity), and jokes for days. We decided to do our gifts white elephant style and A & I's gifts were the big hits of the night. Mine was a movie lovers package with 2 movies, movie theater candy, popcorn in a cute basket. A's gift was trival pursuit, which I was trying to steal back, but ended up without it at the end. One of my friends made it interesting by saying if we wanted to "steal" a gift, we had to compete in a minute to win it style game, hilarity ensued. I ended the night with an awesome coffee lover's package filled with a cute mug, hot cocoa, and 2 bags of archer farms coffee! Here's the mug the following day already getting use out of it.

Friday we spent the afternoon looking at a venue that I adore (and now A loves it too) to have our wedding next year, eek!! I really love this place and hopefully we can book it sometime this year, the staff is amazing there. Just look at some of the weddings they've held there!

(photo taken from the website)

From there we relaxed at home until dinner time when we went to eat yummy deep dish pizza (and chocolate chip cannoli), then watch the movie American Sniper. I realllllllly recommend watching this movie, it was probably the best one I've seen in a long time. Bradley Cooper was amazing as portraying Chris and his story was touching and definitely emotional.

Had to snap a bathroom selfie in this cute bathroom!

Saturday was the big day where A was going to meet my extended family. Now he met my parents the first time he was here, but meeting my family I was a bit scared. My family can be loud and outspoken so I was worried about what they were going to say or do, luckily for me they all really love me and were on their best behavior. They all came up to me individually throughout the night and expressed how much they liked A and thought him and I were perfect together. That made me really happy to know that they all loved him, which I knew they would anyway. Having my cousins there to meet him was also great, we spent the night playing board games and more cards against humanity before calling it a night. I'm so bummed I didn't get a picture of my baked cheese and bean enchiladas that I made, but they did turn out super delicious and were so simple to make (I'll post a recipe tomorrow).

Sunday was the last morning I was going to see A until April and I was sad about it, but we soaked in some time just watching some tv and grabbing lunch before his flight. I couldn't let him leave without just one more picture (I keep telling him we need to get better at taking more pictures, but we always fail at it).

I dropped him off to the airport and relaxed the rest of the day watching the Seahawks beat the Packers and Patriots obliterate the Colts, can't wait until Superbowl weekend!! Go Pats! Later that evening, my mom, sister and I went out to our favorite mexican spot for a late birthday dinner for my sissy. It was delicious and I graciously passed out as soon as I got home!

Even more exciting than the food, was the fact that I found superrrrrrr cheap tickets to Houston for April when I'm going and I cannot wait to spend an entire week in my future city with my boyfriend!

I know we are going to try to look for some houses while I'm there and take a mini getaway to Galveston!! I'm so excited :)!!

Linking up with Biana for weekending and for weekend recap with Lisa & Bella.
