Weekend Happenings

Happy Monday (if there is such a thing). I swear after the Chicago Bears massacre last night, people coated their stomachs in alcohol and were driving hungover today because it was a mess on the roads. I didn't even bother watching the game, I don't quite care to watch them lose horribly like that. Instead I did some laundry and packing for my trip later this week, eek!!

My big plan this weekend was completely my very first 5k!! I am so so so happy I finished it and ran the whole thing (minus the last .5 mile because of a crazy high incline). Not only did I finish it, but I did it in the time frame I gave myself which is a big accomplishment. To say I was undermotivated to train is a huge understatement. I trained for a few weeks about 3 months ago, but gave up on all of that since starting my new job and being exhausted. So to say I completed 3.1 miles in a pretty awesome time frame is a huge accomplishment for me. I definitely got that runners high after and it felt awesome, plus the hot chocolate and fondue they gave us afterwards was SO worth it!! I'll just let the pictures do the talking now.

Proud 5k finisher in front of the bean :)!

I know people run 5k's all the time and it's no big deal, but I'm happy that I was able to finish and not collapse at the end. Any tips from any runners will be definitely welcome as I want to do some more 5k's in the future, maybe even an 8k or 10k!

How were all of your weekends??
