What the What

What's up lovelies?! So yesterday I posted a tiny bit about my first date with this guy who was seemingly perfect in my eyes. Complete sweetheart, funny, liked country music, witty, the list can honestly go on. From my post on Friday here you can tell I was clearly really nervous about this first date. I really can't remember the last date I've been on with someone I'm genuinely interested in getting to know. So Friday came and I met him up at a chocolate lounge located close by both of our houses. We ordered our lattes and cookies n' creme cupcake and headed to a table to get to know each other. Thank god for the table because literally the entire time I was fidgeting with my ring and hairband.

Conversation was flowing the whole time and we talked about our favorite travel spots, dream spots, hobbies, hot spots downtown (and the burbs), favorite movies & TV shows, etc. We practically closed the place down without realizing we were the only 2 customers left in the shop. It was then that we decided to head out and call it a night. Sure, I was kinda hoping for a continuation of the date, but I think for a first date it was ended on a good note. We let our cars start for a few mins and hugged goodbye.

I met up with some of my friends afterwards at a bar and they all were so excited to hear all about my date and I was glad to report to them that it went great (or at least I thought so). They were so excited to hear that and could tell from the smile on my face the rest of the night I had a good time.

The rest of my weekend was pretty busy so I didn't really think too much of it when I never got a text or anything from him (he mentioned that lately he has had to work from home on weekends). After consulting with some girlfriends, I decided to just text him Sunday evening after both games ended to just say hi and ask how the rest of his weekend went. Nothing. Not even a hi back. To be honest, that stung more than I thought it was going to. I decided to not let it affect me too much, maybe he was just too busy to respond. Well then Monday came and went and still nothing

I'm sorry to say that kind of pissed me off. This guy who seemed and acted really sweet and genuine in our emails and texts and in person doesn't give me the decency to at least respond back to my flippin' text?! The hell is up with that?? Even if he thought I was scum on the bottom on his shoe after the date, give me the decency to TELL ME THAT. I honestly cannot speak for him because I haven't a clue what his thoughts were and maybe he thought my nervousness on the date was off-putting and wanted a more confident woman. Or maybe he didn't like the fact that I was only 25 (he is 29, which isn't a huge age gap in my eyes). It would be lovely to know what he thought of me and why he decided to blow me off so easily. I'm a person. I have feelings. More than that, I'm a girl and I am a crazy hopeless romantic who completely romanticized this whole thing. Maybe that was my fault, am I sorry, hell no, that's who I am.

Well at this point, he's over and done with me so I'm moving on. I guess it's a perfect time to fly away to Colorado to visit my amazing cousin and her family. Who knows who I may run into there (I told you I am a hopeless romantic). I could be sitting next to the love of my life on the plane.
T-minus 2 days til I go to Colorado, and I seriously cannot wait.
Look at this adorable specimen I have waiting for me there...

Who needs men when you have this little guy still rockin' his Xmas pj's a month later!

Well hope you liked reading my ridiculous rant on coffeeboy (what I will now refer to him as).

Peace out girl scouts!

Weekend Update

Hey y'all! I know this post is going up super late, but better late than never right?! Linking up with Bella and Lisa for some Weekend Recap.

Dateless in Dallas

Friday
I mentioned on Friday how I had my first date with a guy who I am pretty interested in. We went to a chocolate lounge for some coffee and cupcakes (my 2 favorite things) and in my opinion, everything went well. I won't go into too much now because I am posting about this all tomorrow, but let's just say I haven't heard from him since then (insert super sad face here).

Saturday
My family friend from out of town was here visiting so we all went out to a local bar for some delicious food and drinks. I only got a picture of my food (sorry bad blogger).

I'm classy I have my fries with pink moscato.

Sunday
This day was all about football for me. I woke up just in time to catch the Broncos vs. Patriots game (Go Peyton!!) following that with the most intense game I've seen this season, the 49ers vs. Seahawks. I'm upset that the 49ers lost, they had some good chances at winning, but alas the Seahawks won. I cannot wait for Super Bowl Sunday!!! For dinner my entire family went out for some delicious deep dish pizza. I was so hungry that I couldn't be bothered for a picture of my food!

Afterwards I got to play with this adorable pup, snuggles.

How were your weekends??

Nervous Nellie

Thank god it's Friday party people!! I'm super sorry I forgot to get the winner picked yesterday because I fell asleep at 9pm but I'm happy to announce the winner for my $10 Starbucks gift card giveaway is....

Congrats to Steph!! I love her and am so glad she won. Thank you to everyone who entered and played along!! Steph, I'll be sending an email your way soon!

So onto my post. I'm gonna be super short and sweet today. I had mentioned from Wednesday's post Dating No No what not to do if a guy is trying to court a girl. Well turns out after this dud, I got ballsy and sent a "wink" to a guy who I thought was cute (call me shallow) and expected nothing from it. From reading the guys profile, he seemed like a normal, down to earth kind of guy, just what I needed. Well a few days later, not only did he "wink" back, but he sent me an email too! My giddy little heart went nuts that day. So after a few email exchanges back and forth, we are going on a date TONIGHT!!! I'm so excited, but superrrrrrr nervous at the same time. I have honestly not been on a first date in years, especially not with a guy I was pretty interested in. When we exchanged numbers, he sent me a text saying how he was really looking forward to meeting me and that was just the sweetest thing.

He is also attentive to detail because for our date he is taking me to a local chocolate lounge for some coffee and cupcakes (2 of my absolute favorite things in the world). I feel like because I'm super nervous, it's a good thing we aren't meeting up where alcoholic drinks are being served because I may overdrink and look like a hot mess. I still have absolutely no idea what I'm going to wear, but with the cold temps, I may opt for cozy casual (sweater, leggings, boots).

I really hope this guy is as good in person as he is on paper (or a webpage) and I will of course let you guys know how everything goes and if we plan on a second date!! Hopefully I don't meet him with sweaty palms, but I'm counting on my nerves taking over completely (thank god for the cold weather in that sense).

I'll be hoping for some fireworks between us (cheesy as hell I know)

Dating No-No

It's no secret that I am an online dater. I've have a love-hate relationship with dating sites because so far for me, I have more bad stories than successful or good ones. I guess those stories make for good blog content! Currently I'm only on match.com and haven't been on it too long to really figure out if I like it or not. Within the first week of signing up a guy who seemed pretty normal emailed me and I took a chance on it and emailed him back. He started out simple, just asking how my weekend was and yada yada. I emailed back and a few back and forth messages later, he asked if we could exchange numbers, I decided that it wouldn't be too bad and why not. He texted me and we were chit chatting back and forth. The same day that we started texting, he decided to get me to talk about sports, which is perfectly fine because I love talking sports. Here are some snaps of our texting convo...

So basically, thanks for pissing me off on our first texting encounter with all your haterade talk, super turn off. I chose to not associate myself with this dude any further, but I have a feeling he didn't really get the hint. Howdy? seriously, no thanks! Not only was that bad, but never should you say "someone's little pissed off" yes I was, and I don't think that is the best way to talk to someone you want to get to know.

Ugh, guys are so dumb (sorry if there are any male readers, please fix your kind). There is another guy I am talking to from match and I'm hoping he isn't a dud like this one was. This new guy is actually someone a friend knows and she told me he is a very sweet guy, plus he likes cupcakes so win! I'll update you guys with anything further.

I know I saw some dating disaster link ups floating around, but can't seem to find them now. If you guys know and want to point me in that direction, that would be awesome! In the meantime, I'll link up with Bella & Kat for Humpday Confessions.

Bachelor Dish

Hello lovelies!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far! If you guys have not been watching The Bachelor, you need to catch up and start watching, this season is just proving to be crazier and more emotionally unstable than ever before. Last night's episode proved to be a pretty entertaining one. At first, the dates were pretty boring and tame, but boy oh boy did it get better. Let's just recap a little.
*PS if you didn't see last nights episode and plan on watching, there will be spoilers*

Juan on Juan
 (like what I did there)
Clare was the first one on one date with Juan. Let's flashback to week 1, she was the psycho who stepped out with a fake pregnancy. I guess that worked pretty well with Des coming out in a wedding dress, but hey who knows. Well on the date, ABC must have built a make shift winter wonderland in the middle of LA. The played in the snow, went sledding, and did absolutely no getting to know each other. She got a rose on this date.

Juan on Juan dos
The second one on one went to Kat. I like her and was glad she got a one on one. I don't think she will be making it too far in the season, but she is fun and pretty. For their date, Juan took them on a private jet to Salt Lake City for the electric run. I quite frankly, would not love it if my first date was requiring me to run a race as fun as it looked.

Group Date
Now this is when the real fun and entertainment started. The girls got to do a photo shoot with Juan to help puppies get adopted. I thought this idea was pretty cute, but I don't understand why there needed to be nudity, this wasn't for PETA. I like Andi and I get why she was nervous, I mean come on this is the first date and she has to get down to her birthday suit, hell I wouldn't wanna do that after a few dates. Another girl that I can't believe is still in this is Lucy. Let's recap, she's the "free spirit" and apparently loves being in the nude. She gladly takes one of the nude shoots from another girl, then she strolled the mean streets of LA in the nude, that was strange. After the photo shoot, they headed to a hotel for an after party. This is where Victoria (the girl from Brazil) went ham on the free booze. Basically, she got hammered, straddled imaginary things in the jacuzzi, and ended her night chilling in the bathroom stall. Juan wanted nothing to do with this and went back to the girls and acted like everything was normal, asking them to make sure she got out ok, whoops. ABC put her up at a hotel and Juan met with her in the morning and basically sent her home, how's that for a nasty hangover?

She likes to "straddle" things.

Eliminations

Am I surprised with these eliminations? Not at all. Amy L. did a fake interview with Juan which was equally awkward for me as I know it was for him. She sealed her fate with that stupid interview. Chantel was just far too forgettable. Also, ABC proves yet again, someone who has colored skin will not go very far in this show, sorry but it's the plain truth. I'm hoping for the dog lover and free spirit to be heading home next week, keeping my fingers crossed!

Linking up with Ashliegh and Rachel!

Best & Worst Dressed

Hey y'all! I know a lot of you were watching the Golden Globes last night (sorry for my crazy Twittering) and if you haven't maybe you heard about all the fashion. I love looking at all the different stars and what they will be wearing. I think a lot of people looks exquisite, but alas there are always those few who just don't get it. Here are my picks for best and worst dressed at the Golden Globes last night.

Best Dressed:
{} Amy Poehler- Ok not only was she HILARIOUS with Tina Fey, but she looked hot!!
{} Cate Blanchett- This dress just oozes elegance, she looks regal!
{} Jennifer Lawrence- This girl is my spirit animal and best friend. I love her jewelry pairing and she is rocking that hairdo!
{} Kate Beckinsale- I want her body and this dress, she looks fantastic!!!
{} Kerry Washington- Not only is this dress incredible on her, but her baby bump is the perfect accessory!
{} Lupita Nyong'o- Regal!! When I first saw her on the red carpet, I was blown away. For a newbie, she is doing all the right things!
{} Margot Robbie- I cannot believe she is only 23 years old and looks this great. I love this dress and the way she is selling it on the red carpet.
{}Olivia Wilde- This dress looks like it was painted onto her and her adorable bump is also a great accessory for her, love!
{} Sandra Bullock- At first this dress seemed a bit weird, but after seeing more and more I knew it was perfect, especially for Sandy! Love the peek-a-boo of colors on the inner lining.
{} Sofia Vergara- She is just exceptional, the necklace is the best part of this outfit and dresses up this little big black dress.

Worst Dressed:

{}Amber Heard- She was trying too hard to pull an Angelina with this look. The dress isn't actually bad it's the hair that's just all wrong.
{} Ariel Winter- This girl is actually really pretty, but this dress just ages her too much. I wish she did some soft waves instead of the slick hair.
{} Drew Barrymore- She is definitely glowing with her pregnancy, but this floral dress is just not right for the Globes. Plus, the awkward wannabe high low is just not working for me.
{} Elizabeth Moss- Um....what is this? I know this girl can dress and looks great, but this is NOT her best look.
{} Jessica Chastain- I think this dress is just too simple for the Globes. I also dislike her hair so much.
{} Kaley Cuoco- Oh Kaley, come on! I really want her to up her award show game, this dress just looks like a bad water color painting on a gown, plus the hair doesn't go at all.
{} Paula Patton- She is a gorgeous lady, but this dress is just the worst interpretation of her hubby's song Blurred Lines.
{} Sarah Hyland- She is another one of my faves on the red carpet and this dress isn't the worst, it's the hair and makeup that just don't work for me. She reminds me of Freida with that hair.
{} Zoe Saldana- Ok what is this, for real though?? It's like she found old scraps laying around and had it sewn together, another observation, she's holding her belly, baby news?!
{} Zooey Deschanel- I am not sure why this year she went with this monotonous look. The matchy matchy isn't working and the color is washing her out.

What were your thoughts on the fashion of the Globes? I of course had many other on my list of best and worst, but had to dwindle that number down for the purpose of this post. I think a lot of the winners were well-deserved, but I am confused about how Brooklyn Nine-Nine won for best comedy?!?

Since this was basically the jist of my weekend, I'm gonna link up with Showered with Design and Dateless in Dallas for Weekend Recap.

Sunday Social {Week 84}

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm linking up, like most Sundays, with Ashley & Neely for Sunday Social.

Sunday Social

This week they are taking it back to the beginning on why and how we all became bloggers. I love these type of prompts because they allow us to show why we blog to our readers and who/what got us to blogging. Here are the questions!

1. What is the name of your blog? How long have you been blogging?
My blogs name is make.up.HER and I picked that name because that is the most creative I could get with coming up with a name, Google helped me a tiny bit. I first started out as a makeup blogger, but realized I liked talking about my life (arrogant much?!) as well. I never changed my blog name because I feel it still accurately depicts me, so thus the blog is about what "makes up" me and my life (get it?!) I've been blogging since May of 2012 (2 years this coming May, I can't believe it) although I did take a few months off in 2013 I'm so glad to be back to blogging again!

2. Why do you blog?
I think it allows me to be creative, or at least pretend I am at times. I love the type of community it created for me and I have "met" some pretty awesome bloggers in the time I've been blogging.

3. What is the first blog you ever followed?
I can't remember the exact first blog I followed, but I am pretty sure I started reading PinkLouLou, she's simply the best and I love reading her blog still!!

4. What is your favorite post you wrote in 2013?
Well, considering that I took a slight break in 2013, I think my favorite post I wrote was my return to blogging and what I had been up to while I was MIA, you can read it Here (get ready for a picture overload though).

5. What are your blogging goals for 2014?
Keep blogging for the entire year?? I want to get a little bit more involved, maybe hosting a link up with someone, doing more giveaways, and just being an active part of this wonderful community.

6. Top 3 favorite blogs to follow?
Well since I just wrote about my favorite bloggers on Monday I will just list them and you can read about why I love these blogs Here.

Helene In Between
Not Entirely Perfect
I Wore Yoga Pants
Karly Kim
Meg O. on the Go
Green Fashionista
Living Colorfully
Party of One
PinkLouLou
Martinis & Bikinis

(yes, I am aware I listed 10 blogs instead of 3, but what can I say I have a hard time being restricted to small numbers of favorites).

Why do you blog? What are some of your favorite bloggers?
