Skin Care Essentials: Without Breaking The Bank

As women, we are always on the search for the end all be all product when it comes to skincare. Even though there is no magic potion we can just drink to make our skin last and look ageless, we can take care of the biggest organ on our body, our skin! Ever since I turned 27, I've been on the hunt for the best skin care products that work well for sensitive skin, don't break the bank, and work!

Well you're in luck, I compiled some of my absolute favorite products for your skin. I try to be as frugal as I can, and I understand good skin care products cost money, but being smart about coupons, special offers, etc can help you save money.

ArganiCare Firming Night Cream
Amazon
I picked up this ArganiCare Firming Night Cream at my last trip to T.J. Maxx. I have been searching for a good night cream to help keep my skin feeling soft and supple. I scored this for $4.99!! Y'all head to T.J. Maxx or Marshall's they have amazing skin care products on the cheap. It does have a slight scent to it so if you are put off by that, then I'd probably steer clear. You can also get this on Amazon for less than $20, which for a good night cream is not bad! I don't only use this one, I've been putting it on a rotation with another cream, but I love the way my skin feels in the morning. Another tip, this night cream is a bit oily, but I like a slight oil for a night cream.

Origins Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer
Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer

I got the Origins Mega-Bright dark circle minimizer back in April and I've almost used it every day since then. I definitely have noticed a difference in the darkness under my eyes since. The price point for this cream is $42, which may seem steep don't get me wrong, however, it looks like I barely made a dent in it so I see this bad boy lasting for quite a while. I put this on first before any makeup or moisturizer and let it set and dry for about 5 mins before proceeding.

Origins A Perfect World Anti-Aging Serum
Origins 'A Perfect World'

This is another Origins product that I love. I was weary at first because of the steep price tag on it, but I use this as a primer for my face before putting any makeup on. It reminds me of a primer I used years back that felt like silk on my skin, but that primer was over $60! I knew I didn't want to spend that much on a primer that wasn't doing anything for my skin. The great thing about the Origins 'A Perfect World' serum is that it has White Tea antioxidants which helps your skin look youthful and hydrated. This is another product that lasts for quite some time, I've gotten over 7-8 months of use from one 1oz bottle with a price point of $43, the great thing is Origins is always having sales where you can save :)!

Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm
Dermalogica Age Smart Multivitamin Power Firm
This is a fairly new product that I'm using. I went to Ulta wanting something specifically for the lines under my eyes. I have lines under my eyes that no matter what, nothing can help. This Dermalogica multivitamin power firm was recommended because it helps with fine lines without being overly strong. I was told I don't need retinol this young, and I wanted something that was good for sensitive skin. I've used this for a few weeks now and it is super soft feeling, almost like silicone and doesn't aggravate my skin/eyes at all. This was way too pricey for me, but knowing that this would just be an under eye serum, I felt ok spending the $58 on it if it was something that would work in the long run. Ulta carries the Dermalogica brand and you can even have a consultant with a specialist, I know I will be going back for a skin care consultation and facial.

No7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream
Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream
This Boots No7 beautiful skin night cream was another thing I picked up at my last trip to Ulta. I have heard about the Boots brand and I know it has a good reputation since it's been around the UK for years now. I'm glad that this is finally available in the states because these products seem like the real deal. I read great reviews on this before picking it up and was excited to try it out. It doesn't break the bank at all! It's only $14.99 and it's not excluded from coupons which is even better. I know my sensitive skin would be fine with this product because it's hypo-allergenic. I put on a generous amount before bed and I swear my skin feels baby soft in the morning!! I feel like this will be a tried and true skin care product, if you are looking for a basic night cream, this is your guy...go and get you some!

  5. Ooh I need to try the Boots line! I didn't know they carried it at Ulta. I've heard so many great things - even that Kate Middleton uses ones of their serums, wish I could remember which one!

  6. I cannot wait to either (a) get home or (b) get moved to Amsterdam so I can find all the good skin care stuff! A few things that I've noticed here which really stinks is that skincare is not up to par, not that many people care about it, and EVERYTHING (and I do mean everything) has whitening cream in it. Gross.

The couple of stores I've found that don't have all the crap in it like Kiehl's are so freakin' expensive here I can't even think about pulling the trigger to buy it.
