Wedding Wednesday | The One With The Makeup Trial(s)

Man guys, can I just say again how quickly time is flying?! Well, when it came to makeup...I had been set on going with this girl who had done my makeup a few times previously at Sephora. When I asked her if she did freelance makeup and she said yes I was super happy and decided to use her for my wedding makeup.

I was still set on this up until a few weeks ago when she became super bad about texting and responding back to me. I didn't originally want to do a trial because she has done my makeup before, but figured I might as well to make sure she can make sure to test out eye looks beforehand. Well when I tried setting up a trial with her, it was impossible. I had texted her 3 separate times spread out a week apart...she never responded! I got a little pissy at this because how unprofessional that she didn't respond. Then I started majorly freaking out at the possibility of her not showing up the morning of the wedding.

After venting to my coworker/bestie...she quickly advised I ditched this girl and got someone else. I seriously considered this and started doing research. It freaked me out because it was only 2 months until my wedding and anyone decent will definitely be booked! After getting availability and pricing from different people I finalized my girls. I ended up going with 2 different girls for my wedding day and night look. I wanted the girl who's doing my night look for the morning, but she isn't available.

I had both of my trials with the girls and am slightly displeased with the wedding day look, but LOVE my night look. I am planning on doing another trial for the day look and seeing if it's improved at all...fingers crossed!

Wedding (day) trial:

At first I didn't hate the look, but after really carefully examining the picture this just doesn't look like me. I know you are supposed to go full glam for your wedding, but this felt/looked caked on. Plus I hate how she did my under eye liner, I'm nixing that because when if I cry, it'll look awful. Also the lip color in person looked more orange which was hideous and not what I wanted. Overall, I felt I looked chubbier than normal and just wasn't happy. The lady gave me the option to cancel altogether if I'm not happy and getting my deposit back which is nice, I've reached out to someone else just in case the 2nd trial doesn't work out.

Wedding (night) trial:

I was obsessing over my look guys! The makeup artist made me look natural yet glammed up. I loooove the eyes and the lip color is so pretty! The makeup didn't look caked on and felt like I wasn't wearing anything. After the trial I am super bummed she isn't available for the morning, but she's reached out to a friend to see if she's available for me that morning. I also kept this on for the entire day and it seriously didn't budge guys. I took a slight nap and freaked thinking the eyeliner and makeup would be so messed up, but I woke up and it was locked in place!!

*******************************

Fingers crossed that next trial goes better than the first and if not fingers extra crossed that I find someone who can achieve what I want and doesn't cost an arm and a leg!!

Now it’s your turn to link-up and share your wedding tales.

Macy and I love reading all about your big day, someone else’s wedding adventures, or anything else wedding related. We just can’t wait to read all about it!

  2. I agree that the night look is amazing and I agree that the day look just doesn't look like you. Hopefully you can give her some more direction or ideas of what you're looking for so she can adapt it better to what you want.

  4. I completely understand you not being comfortable and feeling great with the one look. Thank goodness for trials, right?! I think you should do what you can to find someone that can create the best wedding day look for you. Don't settle, it's your day...but yes, you will still look absolutely gorgeous! Hope you get something figured out beautiful!

  5. Love the night look! So pretty! I really hope you find someone who you're more comfortable with for you wedding day look! PS. So cool that you're doing both a day and a night look. I've never been to a wedding where the bride did that. DO you have a different dress too?

  7. Love the night look! Yeah, I was in a wedding several years ago and after the makeup was put on, my own MOTHER didn't recognize me! You've still got to be YOU on your wedding day :)

  9. I don't blame you for ditching the Sephora lady. How unprofessional and rude not to respond.I agree the night look is very pretty but the day look may be too overdone. I prefer my makeup to look very natural as well instead of caked on.

  10. Even though I prefer the night look, are you wearing Indian wear for the day time? If so, then the day look might actually work, no?

  11. I'm glad you talked to her and let her know your concerns! I feel like not everyone does that and they really regret how their makeup turns out for their wedding.

  12. I think you look lovely in both, but I can see how it could not feel like you and too caked on. Good luck with your next trial!

  13. Love the night look, so beautiful! I think it would look beautiful on you if you went for a soft romantic look for the day look. (Think pinks/purples, with soft browns or even some navy incorporated and then a pretty darker lip color. Kinda like this https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/c3/eb/ba/c3ebba1e6e756fb334f2aa37adad5cea.jpg Just a thought! I'm sure you'll look gorgeous no matter what! :)

  14. That really does suck that the girl from Sephora was so unprofessional with you, but it seems like you found somebody that will do a night look perfectly! I can see why you don't like the day look, but hopefully the next trial will go better!

  16. Day look is cute but if you don't love it now, you for sure don't want it on your wedding day! Night look is GORGEOUS and looks so glam but still you, ya know?! So annoying about the sephora girl, I wonder why the heck she stopped responding?!
