August Birchbox

Happy hump day everyone! I'm pretty late on reviewing my August birchbox, but better late than never!! So this month I was both pleased and displeased with the products I received. I actually think after next months box I will be cancelling my subscription. I initially joined to get more beauty products and I just am not getting what I want in these boxes. I hate some of the stuff in the boxes because I know I won't even be touching it, plus some of the sample sizes are way too small to even get a full grasp of the product. I guess I will give it birchbox one final month to wow me, but I doubt I will be continuing on. Well besides that, here is what I got in my box for August.

This month's theme was Beauty School and I thought that was clever and fit in with the theme of back to school {students & teachers alike}. Here is what was inside...

{} stila stay all day 10-in-1 HD beauty balm, foundation & concealer: This realistically probably won't be used. I just wasn't pleased with getting this sample.

{} WEI pomegranate buffing beads: Honestly I don't 100% understand the purpose of these, on the "supply kit" it says to mix this powdered exfoliant with your favorite cleanser to create an antioxidant scrub, the cleanser I use daily already has bursting beads in there, so I don't see a purpose for these.

{} Juicy Couture viva la juicy la fleur: I love this scent, it is very feminine and light and I am a lover of viva la juicy so I could throw this in my travel bag and it will be great to use.

{} WEI golden root purifying mud mask: I am actually excited to use this mud mask. I have wanted to try one for a while and this is the perfect opportunity, the sample size warrants maybe one use so hopefully I can either love it or not with that.

{} Beauty fixation cuticle conditioner: I actually have already used this bad boy and I am in love!! The full size of this is only $5 and I'd say that it works magic. I used it on my toenails and fingernails and it was super easy to use and helped push back my cuticles without hurting. Definitely purchasing once I run out.

{}Schick hydro silk razor: I love this little bonus that we all seem to have gotten in our August box. Birchbox must have known my razor was getting ready to quit on me because it couldn't have been more perfect timing. I am definitely throwing this in my travel bag because it makes your skin so soft and no niches when using the 5 blades!!

So all in all, like I said, hits and misses with this box. I love some of the items {mud mask, cuticle conditioner, razor} and could care less about others {stila 10-in-1, buffing beads}, but like I said I hope my next and probably last box will have some more makeup products. I have actually signed up for a myglam box after reading the reviews from Katy and love how they have more makeup products that you would actually use, so I am on a waiting list for that and hope to subscribe to that soon!!

Did you get a birchbox this month?
Are you pleased with what you got?

  1. I agree!
I was highly disappointed in my box this month too and didn't even bother reviewing it, let alone taking a pic for IG. Yup, it was that boring. I think I'm going to give it one more month and cancel too.... I just am not feeling it anymore :/

  2. The Stila sample is so tiny, how can they expect anyone to get enough to really try the cream out? :( I'm jealous of the mud mask and the cuticle conditioner though, they look awesome! My box was hit and miss too. I got a stila eyeliner that I am obsessed with but other than that it was just ok!

  4. I have been so tempted to switch to MyGlam...I have a 3 months left on my BB subscription and I think I will wait it out and give myglam a try! You are so right about those little buffing beads! And I sooo wanted to try the mud mask, but didn't get it in my box. Oh, well, here's to hoping next month is better :)

  5. The razor or mud mask would probably be my top picks too. I've heard great things about birchbox, but just never thought it was worth all the hype it was getting so I never signed up.

Stopping by Ali's blog! It sounds like we could get along fabulously :)
Can't wait to read more of your adorable blog! xo
