It's My Birthday & I'll Cry if I Want To

Happy hump day & happy birthday to me!! Today is my 24th birthday and I am currently living it up in Las Vegas {as if you couldn't tell by my talking about it for the past month and the lovely ladies I have had guest post during my trip}. The conclusion of the guest posts {for now} comes with the wonderful Kate @ Green Fashionista! She and I have become fast bloggy friends and I completely adore her blog {if you haven't checked it out, what the heck are you waiting for...GO}. When I posted on Twitter about needing guest posters, she was one of the firsts to offer to write one for me and when she found out I was going to Vegas, she was excited to share with you readers her many trips there. I am so jealous of all the traveling Kate gets to do with her lovely H and I hope I can see as many places as her one day. Well while I enjoy some lovely "adult beverages" on my last day {sad face} in paradise, read about Kate's trips to Vegas.

Hey there, I'm Kate from Green Fashionista and I'm so excited to be guest posting for the lovely Nikki while she's living it up in fabulous Las Vegas!

That's me during my 1st trip to Vegas in May 2009 at the top of one of The Palms towers at Ghost Bar.

My H and I have been to Vegas twice and can't wait to return and continue the good times that are always to be had there.

Slot machines in the airport!

The first trip there, we stayed at MGM Grand in the West Wing. We loved the lazy river in the pool area and spent the daylight hours down there and explored the strip after the sun went down.

At night, we went out exploring. We enjoyed a Cirque du Soleil show, went to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris hotel, rode the gondolas at the Venetian, and had an all access pass to the nightlife at The Palms. For one flat price, we had access to Ghost Bar, Moon, and the Playboy Club.

We tried to cram as much as we could into our first trip. We also visited the Lion Habitat in MGM Grand which was really neat, rode the rollercoaster at New York New York, went to the Titanic exhibit (when it was at the Luxor, it's since moved), and the aquarium at Mandalay Bay.

Riding the roller coaster is a must-do...

and so is dressing up and hitting up the nightlife which is more than plentiful.

Our second trip to Vegas was for the 1st leg of our honeymoon. We flew out to Vegas the day after our wedding and spent a few days there before renting a car, driving to LA and flying to Fiji. We knew we had a long trip ahead of us and wanted to break it up, and we thought it was a great opportunity to hit up Vegas again. This time we stayed at the Mirage.
We got a free upgrade to a suite just for being Facebook fans. So, ladies remember if you have a trip coming up to Vegas (or anywhere for that matter) "like" the resort on FB and it may get you some freebies ;)
When we got to our beautiful room, we realized we had a corner unit with a pool view, and there was a bottle of champagne chilling on ice for us.

View from our room

Our second trip to Vegas wasn't as adventurous as we were exhausted from our wedding. We spent the 1st day at the pool which we loved with all the beautiful waterfalls. We then wandered over to Bare pool which is a topless friendly pool club that's adults only. However, I kept my top on. I may love to make things interesting, but I just don't have that much guts :-P
We did however, rent a day bed which is like a VIP table at Bare and enjoyed endless drinks and food. Expensive, but so worth it plus it was our honeymoon so we wanted to splurge.

I was so excited about drinking Fiji water since we were leaving for Fiji the next night... yep that makes me a dork :)

That night, we had VIP reservations at Jet (used to be a hot club at The Mirage) but we were so tired after being out in the heat all day and drinking at Bare so we never made it down. We didn't mind since we had so much fun at Bare.
The next day, we explored some of the other hotels, stopped at the famous Vegas sign, and then went to the Hoover Dam before heading 4 hours west to Los Angeles to catch our flight.
My biggest advice when going to Vegas is you don't have to do it all in one trip. It's super cheap to travel to, that you'll most likely return so don't burn yourself out all at once. Also, the sun is BRUTAL! If you're there between April and September it will be hot hot HOT! Stay hydrated and wear plenty of sunscreen while enjoying their amazing pools. I'm sure you'll be enjoying plenty of "adult beverages" but don't forget to drink plenty of water as well ;)
And most of all don't forget to have an amazing time! Can't wait to hear all about Nikki's trip and see her fun pics!

Aren't you jealous of her trips to Vegas and to check out all her other fun places she's visited, check out her blog. She gave me some cool and fun things to go and see while I'm there and I am so glad that she offered to guest post for me!! Thanks so much Kate and I will definitely be taking tons of pictures and will do a recap of the trip as soon as I can!!
