Happy Tuesday! I have been in sort of a blogging funk lately and have been relying on link up's to get me through posts during the week, but I've realized that as much as I LOVE link up's I need to still show you me at the same time. Another thing I realized was that I never went over my makeup essentials with you all. These are my holy grail makeup products that I use every single day. I have mastered putting on my face to be under 10 mins and sometimes, when rushed, can cut that time in half. It really should be an Olympic sport this whole getting ready in the morning event. I want to discuss my go to products and why I love them oh so much!
sorry for the cruddy picture, still no camera, fail!
I've numbered these products in the order in which I use them in the morning when I get ready. I suppose I am OCD when it comes to which order and particular way I have to put on my makeup in the morning, but this is just for a basic face. If I go out at night or on the weekends I throw in eyeliner and eye shadow.
{1} Rimmel London Fix & Perfect pro primer
I bought this primer after reading about it on a blog and decided to try it out. The inexpensive price tag [$6] was also an added bonus. I think this stuff works great because it doesn't leave my skin oily or greasy, but instead, gives it a nice matte look for my foundation to be placed.
{2} Kat Von D tattoo concealer in deep 34
Instead of a liquid foundation all over my face, I use this amazing concealer on my trouble areas first. This stuff is heavy duty and even though it has a high price tag [$25], this bad boy will last you for a long time. I have had this tube for at least 6 months and I use it just about every day. I try to only use a couple dots on my cheeks and it gets the color evenly distributed which is great.
{3} Make Up For Ever duo mat powder foundation in shade 209
I am in lurve with this powder foundation. I used to use MAC's powder and when I discovered this I tossed my MAC and never looked back. This is some high quality ish and even if it's got a hefty price tag [$34], this stuff is sooooo worth it. I discovered this when I went into Sephora and asked a specialist to help me find a new powder, when she put this on me I thought it felt like silk on my skin. It doesn't cake or fill into any pores which is incredible and it lasts all day long! Again this stuff lasts me quite a long time before hitting the pan and I use it every day.
{4} Nars blush in Orgasm
I've read about this blush everywhere. This color looks amazing on every single skin tone and is the perfect hue for an everyday look. I dab just a little bit on my cheeks and it gives it a fantastic pigmentation. Again this is on the pricier side [$29], but I have been using the same one for over a year now. Since I use such a little amount I have been able to stretch the use, but you really don't need much to achieve color which is great!
{5} MAC eye brow crayon in Spiked
I never realized the difference an eye brow crayon can make on your eyebrows. I use this crayon to fill in the small holes and it blends in so perfectly. I got this as a gift, but I know this is a definite repurchase and don't know how I've gone so long without using this tool. For $16 this may seem like a splurge, but this is yet another item that is long lasting [are you sensing a trend in this]. I have had mine for a little over 5 months now and have only twisted the crayon 2 times so far!
{6} Chella eyebrow defining gel
This is another tool where I don't know what I did before it's use. I got this product in a birchbox months ago and never really realized what it was for. One of my friends came over and was playing around with my makeup and got excited when she saw I had an eyebrow gel, I had no clue what she was talking about until she pointed it out to me. This bad boy holds your brow hairs in place without looks frozen in time. I use this every day and even though I got a sample size, I will be replacing this with another when I'm all through.
{7} L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes in Black
I never knew the power of lashes before this mascara. I naturally have long eye lashes [go ahead, be jealous] and never really had to worry about accentuating them, in fact, I hated how long they were whenever I wore glasses because they would always touch the glasses. It wasn't until I got this mascara from a giveaway I won when I realized how amazing this mascara was in my beauty bag. It really defines my lashes even more without clumping and looking crazy eyed. I use this every day for work and class because it gives my eyes a more awake feeling without going overboard. The $8 price tag isn't too shabby either for the quality you are getting for your money!
The brushes on the side of the picture are just the brushes I use to apply my daily makeup. They are all elf and I absolutely love the quality. Even though they were all under $3, they feel like they are high quality brushes. I even got professional brushes for Christmas, but haven't quite started using them because I love what these brushes do for me.
From left to right:
elf Complexion brush, elf Angled foundation brush, elf Powder brush, and elf professional bronzing brush.
The complexion and powder brush I use with my Make Up For Ever foundation, the angled foundation with my Kat Von D concealer, and the bronzing brush to apply my blush at an angle on my cheekbones!
